FAQs

What is Arise?

Arise is an off-campus opportunity during TI / Pathways period for any student at Fishers High School or Hamilton Southeastern High School. Arise is a program designed to help students from any faith background come ask any questions they have about life, God, or spirituality in a safe place where no question is off-limits, and no views are unwelcome.

Why does Arise exist?

We want to be a safe place for questions, and offer encouragement and belonging to teens in our community. We are grieved by the reports of increased levels of anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation among our teens. We believe that students’ spiritual growth and development is a critical piece of their overall health. Lastly, we want to partner with HSE Schools to see students in our community thrive.

When & where does it take place?

Arise is being hosted at Trinity Church / East Fishers (11721 Olio Rd) just 0.8 miles south of Hamilton Southeastern High School. Arise takes place during TI / Pathways Period anytime a "Gray Day" (HSE High School) and a "Silver Day" (FHS) lands on a Tuesday starting in September. Fall 2024 dates are: Sept. 10, Sept. 24, Oct. 1, Oct. 22, Nov. 5, Nov. 19, Dec. 10

How will students be transported?

Arise provides the option of free transportation to any student to/from each High School! We provide private charter bus transportation from the high schools to Trinity Church and back. The transportation company is fully insured, and an Arise volunteer will travel on the bus with students on both legs of the trip. Students may also drive themselves, or be dropped-off/picked-up directly at Trinity Church (this may save parents some time in the pick-up lines!) •FHS Students: Our bus will be parked right outside the CCA entrance. You may get on our bus as soon as 7th period ends (1:24pm). Our bus will leave promptly at 1:30 pm and head to HSEHS. •HSE Students: Our bus will arrive to door #1 (the bus entrance by the flagpole) around 1:35pm. Once 7th period ends, you can hang out by door #1 for a few minutes until our bus arrives! Students may also take our bus back to their respective schools after Arise. Students will be back in the building by 3:00 pm so they can catch their ride home, or attend after-school sports/clubs/programs!

Is it authorized?

Yes, 100%. Arise is a released time program that abides by Indiana Code 20-33-2-19. Released time honors the doctrine of separation of church and state by adhering to the guidelines established by the U.S. Supreme Court decision Zorach v. Clauson (1952). Released time programs across the country honor three basic guidelines: 1) The program must take place off school grounds. 2) No taxpayer funding may be used. 3) Student attendance is completely voluntary with written parental consent. Arise is a member of School Ministries, a national organization supporting released time programs.

Are the schools on board?

Yes! Hamilton Southeastern and Fishers High School leadership have provided a consent form to be used by parents and students who wish to attend Arise. Arise is responsible for providing attendance records to the schools. Attendance at Arise is credited to the student as attendance at school.

Who will be the leaders?

Ty Combs, Next Gen Pastor and Director of Student Ministries at Trinity Church, will be the primary host for Arise. All leaders and volunteers must have a clear background check on file.

What will students do at Arise?

The 60-minute program will include free food, games/prizes, opportunities for students to connect with friends, inspiring and engaging biblical teaching with open floor questions!

Does Arise have a statement of faith?

All leaders, speakers, and their content will fall in line with The Apostles’ Creed, a commonly accepted standard of belief and theology across Christian churches, denominations, and organizations.

How much does it cost to attend Arise?

Nothing! It’s FREE. For those able and willing, there is a suggested donation of $30 per semester to help supplement the cost of transportation.

How do I register my student?

Submit our registration form found on this page! Parents also must fill out the “Release Time for the purpose of Religious Instruction” form provided by HSE schools (digitally or hard-copy). This can be found in our online registration (see above). Once filled out, we’ll take care of the rest!
